I recently had someone approach me about logo creation for an event. I was so excited at the opportunity that I got on it right away. I sent it in for their review and I was looking forward to their feedback. I even appropriately named it, “First draft” with the intention that they would get back in touch with me with other ideas, should they not like it. I NEVER heard a thing. I followed up with two messages, and even said, “if you went with some other design, I understand…” I just wanted to hear something, ANYTHING. Nothing…. I get on their Facebook page to find out that they went with another design. They didn’t tell me or had the decency to explain why I wasn’t the chosen person. It was like my time and design wasn’t worth the effort to let me know that they went with someone else. I don’t know why I am sharing this, maybe because I am not going to publicly or socially call them out (it only backfires on you), I just needed a place to share my thoughts. Just remember – be cautious of others and their feelings. Even if you may not like their work, at least tell them or share your feedback. I would rather of them have told me than completely ignore my work. My time still matters, even if I didn’t give them something they wanted in the end. Silence can be more deafening than a 1,000 words.
